Voting Jesus For President

I’ve heard many people, “Christians,” claim to want to vote Jesus for President of the USA. This is a noble idea, right? It depends on which Jesus they would be voting for. History reminds us all to vividly of the time He walked the earth, then wept over Jerusalem as His own people rejected Him and eventually crucified Him. Yes! That Jesus! It wasn’t the Romans and the world. It was His own.

Of course, then the argument is, we aren’t like they were, we have the New Testament and we know what He is like. I get that, but then take a look at all of the factions of the so-called “church”/fellowships that are splinters of the original disciples. Again, I ask, “Which Jesus?”

I am not poking fun here at all as I am very serious. I believe it is a cop-out to just say, “I want to vote Jesus for President!” Furthermore, I believe it is a slap in His face. He gave His life, took back the keys from the devil, gave us His authority, and then told us to go forth and build His Kingdom. For the most part, if one looks at the claims of professed Christianity groups around the world, it can be very confusing to many.

Then we hear the statement, “Well, no one has it all right!” That is true, but why all the throwing of stones/words against those who don’t believe the same? Why do some groups tear pages out of the Bible because they say those things don’t apply anymore? Who made them judge and jury when the Bible is very clear on those things.

In Revelation 2 and 3, in the letters to the seven churches, the Lord clearly defined that He was talking to the believers in certain areas/cities. “To the church in Sardis, etc.” He distinctly didn’t say, “To the churches in Sardis, etc.” Why? Because there is only one Body, His Body and we are all connected together. In each area/city, He gave specifics on what they were doing right as a whole in their area, and the things that needed work using their authority. Today, with churches/fellowships on almost every major street corner, which one is He speaking to in that area? He is still speaking the same. To the Church, all the believers in that area/city; this is what you are doing; this is great, but I have this against you. If the believers aren’t speaking and communing with each other, how are they to accomplish what He wants to do for the city, namely to bring His peace and love to it? Keith Green used to say, “Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian any more than going to McDonald’s make you a hamburger.”

In so many fellowships, one can walk in and  be hard pressed to differentiate it from many other social groups. Outside of the singing and preaching, there is division, pride, envy, greed, adultery, and other evil things going on including various cliques who will not let others join. Wow! Sometimes, there is no significant difference from the social scenes in a bar and sometimes there is more love for one another in a bar.

Some fellowships have numerous programs to attend and sometimes that is great, but sometimes that also causes separation. So, looking from the outside, one can sometimes see a scene similar to the one in 2 Kings 6 & 7, where the city of Samaria resorted to cannibalism, because of all of the fear within it, due to the siege of the enemy. No, we don’t do that in the natural, but in some places, the stones are being thrown and people are getting hurt emotionally and spiritually. Some walk totally away from the Lord and some have become Atheists because of it. Then we wonder why a lot of people don’t want to come into a church/fellowship building ever again. “I was wounded in the house of my brothers.” I know the arguments of just get over it, but I challenge this instead – change it! Follow Christ, not man!

One only has to look at the GOP presidential candidates during the primary to see the outworking of this. All, with the exception of one or two, threw a few stones at each other as well. One campaign undermined two of the other campaigns through lies. If the Body wasn’t divided about who to vote for when they had their chance, how much more so now that there is only one candidate. The world, the lost, are watching. Why, on earth, would they want to get in a religious war they don’t understand, when they can barely make it from one day to the next right now?

So, which Jesus would everyone vote for President? Would it be the Jesus who hangs out in bars and drinks with sinners and prostitutes? You know the One the media would be sure to broadcast everywhere in their biased judgment. Would it be the Jesus who is found talking to some people in a prostitute’s house? Would it be the Jesus, who is seen talking to a prostitute down on a certain street corner? Would it be the Jesus, who is friends with tax collectors, you know those “crooked IRS agents,” corporate execs, or gangs? What about the Jesus who elects to not attend their church/fellowship, but chooses instead to hold His own meeting down by a smelly seashore or on a scenic hillside? I know, they’d vote for the Jesus that would cleanse their churches/fellowships of money changers with a whip or cattle prod; the Jesus that would call some of them a brood of vipers, white-washed sepulchers full of dead men’s bones, full of pride, etc. as He did in the synagogues He attended on Saturdays, the Sabbath.

Instead, He chose to dwell within each of us, no matter how flawed and imperfect we are. We are broken vessels of dishonor only deserving of any honor because of He, Who we have asked to come into our hearts and cleanse us of all evil. However, He can only cleanse those areas we allow Him to cleanse, which is evident of our struggles between the flesh and the spirit. This is why Christians sometimes don’t act like Him, unforgiveness, judgements, traditions, opinions, etc. still very much alive inside.

So, again I ask, “Which Jesus would you vote for?” Is it your pastor? If so, why not a different pastor? Why is your person better? Only by the calling and grace gift given to that individual can we even do what He has called us to do. He anoints, equips, and appoints, but how many of His people recognize who He is appointing? What if we vote for someone we think can do it, but has absolutely no gifting from Him for the job? How about His choosing David among his other brothers? David was the least likely in everyone’s eyes. How about Saul/Paul who was killing Christians and later wrote most of the New Testament? No, we most certainly won’t vote for someone like that in our generation. How about Peter who was brash, a motor mouth, full of pride, who seemingly placed his foot in his mouth at every opportunity? Folks, the list goes on and on, but the world is watching.

Why is it that angels are doing some of the work of the Church with some of the new ISIS and Muslim converts? It is shared from numerous sources of the many new believers seeing angels and having dreams and turning to the Lord. Does He really need us? This should humble us. Paul said this one thing, “They come speaking with eloquent words of persuasion, but I will come and with the power of the Holy Spirit to expose these imposters for what they really are.” Where’s the power of the Holy Spirit? In all fairness, there are many who are doing what they are supposed to be doing, many who are unnoticed.

So many have prayed for this election and I’ve seen many disillusioned because their choice didn’t make it. Why not? He was evidently the one who the Lord chose, but why does their choice contradict with others who have heard as well? Now, we have just a few choices left and only two real choices to make. We can vote on the flawed characters and personalities or we can vote on the issues. They are night and day difference. One vote gives us the chance to restore our way of life and our Constitution while the other puts us firmly down a path to socialism and an eventual, possible dictator. Look at the platform plans. Look behind the smoke, mirrors and a very biased media. Dare to stand and vote for democracy before it is too late. Our country is $20 trillion in debt. One will continue this spending until we can’t pull ourselves out of it and it can happen in less than four years, while the other gives us a fighting chance.

The Lord chose to use men and women to further His Kingdom. He doesn’t always use godly people to advance His Kingdom. He’s used ungodly people before, one of the most influential being Cyrus who helped to restore Israel. The Bible says he was anointed to do this. Isaiah 45:1, “[ God Uses Cyrus ] This is what the Lord says to His anointed, to Cyrus [king of Persia], Whose right hand I have held To subdue nations before him, And I will ungird the loins of kings [disarming them]; To open doors before him so that gates will not be shut: AMP” Since He is the same past, present and future, can’t He not do it again? Most of America has been sleeping for years. We’ve voted in popularity contests versus the issues and our rights have slowly been taken away or limited. This election, we must vote for the issues. In my opinion, we don’t have another four years to wait to course correct.

I am not defending Trump’s past by any means. I don’t even defend my own. I’ve repented for all I know I’ve done, but it is still recorded. I am not saying he will do everything he says he will do. I know what I believe, as I’ve watched and listened over this past year. I believe he will do his best in spite of his many flaws. I do my best, as well, with all of my many flaws. He is gathering many people around him who have a lot of wisdom and are proven in their areas of expertise. He is a builder and he’s done that in his businesses and has been very successful. He knows that if you build a tall building with contractors who don’t know what they’re doing, it will fail terribly. It is no different in rebuilding our country. We need the right people in the right places for it to succeed. Could he use some polishing? Yes! Can’t we all?

Neither candidate, in my opinion, should be president based on their past character and you have to really see both sides. (There were many presidents in our past that shouldn’t have been either, according to character, but some ended up doing a good job.) This election, however, is about our freedom. Do we want to keep it, or will we sleep again and another generation possibly having to spill their blood to get it back, our children? Freedom is not free, but it is worth dying for as we’ve seen from the generations before us. Right now, we still have the Constitution and we have the power to make the necessary changes in order to keep and protect it. What will history say of our choices?

Perhaps you disagree. That’s okay. I have no problem with that. Perhaps you wish to harm or attack me for my beliefs or opinions. What does that say about you? Do you believe in freedom or do you only believe where it concerns you? Or perhaps you think disagreement is synonymous with hate. It’s not. Look at the definition of both. America’s strength was built through many disagreements and as flawed as it is, our strength lies in our ability to join together and helping each other in spite of them for a common good. We all have dreams and so far, in America, we can still go for our dreams and help our neighbors as well.

Abundant blessings to you and your family. I pray the best for you and I hope to stand with you in freedom, bringing hope and love to our nation and the world around us. Dream again! Hope again! Love again!

Janiece and I travel and minister to individuals and groups as doors open for us to go. We are starting a new thing this year. We will be going to communities, as the Lord leads, and booking hotel meeting rooms to do concerts. We will invite those from the hotel as well as the community. We will connect to other churches and organizations in those communities to help those who desperately need help, and who, perhaps won't come into a church building. We share His love to those who haven’t heard of their Father’s love for them and also minister in song. We’ve both been through a lot and have been healed and restored and that we have to pass on to others. We can speak through truth and experience because we’ve been there. If you would like to book us for a concert, event, speaking and/or ministry meeting, please use our CONTACT page. We hope we have helped to encourage you to go on and find the wonderful destiny God has planned for you. Psalm 139. Fly higher…
