Why can’t we hear God’s voice and see what He is trying to show us? Have you ever been to a city like Denver, Colorado? You walk around downtown in the midst of all the tall buildings and then all of a sudden you realize you can’t see the magnificent mountains so close by. Why? The buildings are in the way, duh! You know the mountains are there, so therefore, the mountains are not the problem. Hearing God’s Voice Clearly!
It’s like that with the Lord. He is always near and very close by us, but like the buildings our idols, false doctrines, opinions, hurts, wounds, traditions and unbelief hinder not only our view of the truth, but also keep His voice and His truth from reaching our spiritual ears. The sound waves hit the obstacles and bounce back never reaching our ears. Whatever it is that we place higher than His truth, obscures our true view and diminishes our ability to hear correctly.
Remember those weird mirrors at the amusement parks. They distorted our view of ourselves either making us look too fat or too skinny. We need to take off the distorted lenses of the glasses, (the lies we have believed), and even the lies we believe about ourselves to see the real truth about how He sees us and to really see Who He is. Also, we have all heard distorted voices through audio effects. Sometimes we can’t make out the words and they sound like something else. He is our loving, heavenly Father and He so longs to pour His abundant love all over us and to hug on us when we let Him, but all these other things and experiences have given us a wrong view of Him. We won’t receive that which we can’t see and trust. If we don’t believe He loves us, we won’t let Him come near enough to touch us with His love.
Let’s pull down the things in our lives that we have exalted above His Name, His truth, so that we can truly walk in that which He has prepared for us. Don’t miss His best over some silly nonsense. Our true destiny is at stake. Would we sell our destiny over a single meal? Esau did! Idols are not as important as our emotions would like to have us think. Get a better view. See things as God sees them. Ask Him and be prepared to do some demolition. Freedom! Yes! Hearing God’s Voice Clearly!
