Jesus proclaimed a phrase that seems to contradict who He is all about and I used to ponder on this, thinking that I know He isn’t a respecter of persons, but when He gave me understanding it all made sense. He said, “Many are called, but few are chosen.” in Mathew 22:14. Are we called? Yes! ARE WE CHOSEN?
In the parable of the Wedding Banquet, the Lord goes to the extreme to invite people to His banquet, but people come up with excuses, some want to build their own kingdoms and one person actually accepts the invitation, shows up, but refuses to wear the proper attire. How sad! He gets thrown outside with the others who refused the invitation.
The Lord has a path for us on this earth to walk. He wrote about it in our book in heaven, Psalm 139. At the proper time, He invites us to walk with Him. Sometimes He does this over and over at various times in our lives. He does not want us to perish, so He keeps inviting, but it is up to us to accept His invitation. However, this is not enough. It is not enough that we are going to the most important banquet that we will ever attend. We have to prepare ourselves and wear the proper attire. It means we must get cleaned up. There is a certain kind of grooming that is required, too.
Revelation 19:6-8, “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. 7 Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. 8 Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.”
All throughout scripture, there is a reference to the types of clothing the priests were to wear when they entered the Holy of Holies. These garments were to be sprinkled with blood. You might ask, “What does all of this mean?” It is really simple. Every time we sin, miss the mark, our spiritual garments get stained. Through repentance, agreeing with the Lord on the matter and turning to Him and asking His forgiveness, His blood is applied to those areas and our garments are cleansed and made white again. This is really simple, however, it is not easy. Lots of times we don’t want to do this. It might not have even been our fault, but it stained our garment and it is the only way we will get it clean. I have written more on this subject in some of my previous posts if you would like to study it more in depth or just contact us.
It is not enough to just answer the call. We must lay down our lives, our kingdoms, and our selfishness to be able to hear and see what it is He has planned for our lives. Only when we make Him the King of our life, can we ever begin to walk towards the fullness of the high calling to which He has called us, Philippians 3:14, “I press on toward the goal to win the [supreme and heavenly] prize to which God in Christ Jesus is calling us upward.”
So, when it comes to the Lord choosing us, it is not as much to do with Him as much as it is to do with our choices. He gave us the freedom to choose. We can choose to believe the lies of our enemies and those around us, or we can search for His truth. He says that if we search for it with all of our heart, we will find it. When we stand before Him in eternity, we will have no excuse. We can’t blame it on someone else. It all comes back to our choices.
The Lord has a wonderful destiny prepared for us. Before we were created, He wrote out the plan He wanted us to walk. I don’t know about you, but I want to walk mine to the fullest of what He has so wonderfully designed for me. I want to walk in my lane, not someone else’s, and receive my reward for Him on the day eternity begins for me. What about you? What is more important, the things of this temporary place or the eternal purposes of our loving Father?
In the Colorado Springs area is a road called Gold Camp Road. We were privileged to drive and hike this path this past summer while we were there writing Janiece’s biography. The part we journeyed has two tunnels carved out of the rock and a small rail system used to carry the gold down from the mountain years ago so it was a nice sloping path. We were able to drive through one of the tunnels on our journey higher, but had to stop and walk to journey further up the path because the other tunnel had caved in and was impassible. The only way to carry on, was to traverse a narrow and dangerous path over the top.
I was thinking about the tunnels yesterday and then applied it to our spiritual walk using two photos I had taken. What is our path in life like? Is it an open tunnel to our destiny that was carved by the Lord for us to walk, or has it caved in and been blocked by things in our heart?
I Corinthians 9:24-27, Run your race in life to win, throw off everything that hinders you, train to cross the finish line victoriously and gain all that Father has for you. (my paraphrase) Don’t let the little things destroy your chances of gaining it all. Be encouraged! Don’t settle for less!
Janiece and I travel and minister as doors open for us to go. We share His love to those who haven’t heard of their Father’s love for them and also minister in song. Please use our contact page to contact us for more info. I have written 3 books to help people get to know Him. They are: “Destiny Path Of Life: The Journey Begins,” “Sentenced To Death, Destined For Life – The Janiece Turner-Hartmann Story – Tell My People I Love Them!,” and “Islands In The Sea – The Day The King Walks In!” I also have recorded some of my music for encouragement. Some of these are on our site, YouTube in video, and available to purchase and download here. I have some artwork that we have for wallpapers and prints, and we have placed them on various products, (posters, shirts, mugs, steins, cups, shirts, mousepads, stickers, bumperstickers, etc.) at our Zazzle store online. If you need help or prayer, please write to us and let us know. The proceeds from all of our products help us to minister to those who need help.
Our main ministry site is ShaftOfLight.com, my products site and blog is DestinyPathOfLife.com, Janiece’s site, for her biography is SentencedToDeathDestinedForLife.com, our e-commerce site is BeneficialZone.com, and our product line is on our Zazzle store.
