Have you ever wondered why some people don’t get healed by the Lord? They say they believe in healing. They go to others for prayer. They stand on God’s word that they were healed by Jesus’ stripes according to His Word. Some are even beaten down by others that they don’t have enough faith. Miraculous Healing!

My purpose in writing about this topic is to encourage you to go for it. You can be healed. I will discuss some things to look at to see if you might be short-circuiting the miracle that is waiting for you. Healing is a rather simple subject but there are key factors that can prevent or delay it from happening.

I would like to give an illustration that paints a picture of how we can nullify the Word of God in receiving our healing. Let’s look at this fictitious story of Jack.

Jack has a few problems that have developed over the past ten years. He has been diagnosed with Diabetes, High blood pressure, and asthma. He is taking medication for these problems, all of which have side effects. He also eats junk food for his snacks, drinks sodas, and mostly eats processed foods. When anyone asks him how he is doing or feeling, he states, “… I have to take these medications for MY diabetes, MY high blood pressure and MY asthma.” Jack is a devoted Christian and He loves the Lord. He also believes in scripture especially the ones for healing. He prays for his healing as well as getting others to pray for him, but he isn’t seeing the results.

What is wrong with this picture? The main point I would like to make about Jack is this. He has accepted the diagnosis from his doctors to the point that he calls these problems HIS. He is now taking ownership of them. Now, as long as they are his diseases he will keep them. He nullifies the power of the scriptures by the confession of his mouth. Others also have sympathy for him because of all the problems he has, so it is also becoming an identity issue. If he does not change the path he is on, these symptoms will continue to get worse and possibly develop into other complications which might eventually lead to a premature death.

James 1:6 & 7 “But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. ⁷That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; ⁸he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.”

Jack finds himself in a bad situation. Out of one side of his mouth he is standing on the Word of God that “by His stripes I was healed.” Out of the other side of his mouth he is confessing, “my diabetes, my high blood pressure, my asthma.” He quotes the Word and the healing starts to come to him, but then he speaks against it and it goes back. It is like a yo-yo, back and forth. We must watch what we speak. Rather, Jack could confess, “while I am experiencing the symptoms of … I know I am healed by Jesus’ stripes.” He is not ignoring what he feels, but he is not nullifying the power of the Lord’s healing. I have had instant healing from the Lord and I also had my back healed over a period of a year and a half. I don’t always know His timings but I do know that His Word is true. It will accomplish what He says it will.

There are also a few other factors involved including, demonic attacks, curses, generational curses, sin, unforgiveness, bitterness, idolatry, and witchcraft as far as the spiritual realm is concerned. There are also physical things involved including Jack’s diet and the side effects of the drugs that can get him going on a downward spiral.

In some cases Jesus healed by casting out a demonic spirit and the person was made well. Other times he told the people to do certain things. In some instances he told the person to stop sinning after they were healed. What is He telling you? Have you asked Him? We cannot expect to stay healthy by eating things that poison us or load us up with toxins. At some point, by His grace, we need to start moving towards healthier eating and drinking. We must study His Word. We must fellowship with Him and get to know Him. Sometimes an inner healing of the heart through forgiveness releases healing in the body.

The following scripture illustrates a biblical example of diet in Daniel 1:8-16: “⁸ But Daniel resolved not to defile himself with the royal food and wine, and he asked the chief official for permission not to defile himself this way. ⁹ Now God had caused the official to show favor and sympathy to Daniel, ¹⁰ but the official told Daniel, “I am afraid of my lord the king, who has assigned your food and drink. Why should he see you looking worse than the other young men your age? The king would then have my head because of you.”

¹¹ Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, ¹² “Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. ¹³ Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.” ¹⁴ So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.

¹⁵ At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. ¹⁶ So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead.”

I am not saying that you have to go on a diet like this. It wouldn’t hurt, but you might get some headaches and body pain by altering your diet suddenly. However, I am saying that you might want to make a choice before the Lord to start walking in the direction by His grace. His journey is one step at a time. We change day by day anyway, why not choose the direction that matters.

If you are not being healed, you might want to dig a little deeper than you have. There is an answer. Healing is available to all of His children.
