Show Me Jesus
April 18th, 2009 at 9:25 am (Encouragement, Joseph's Story)
Who is this Jesus called the Christ? There is so much controversy? Why is He so special? Many say different things about Him, but how can we know for sure what the real truth is? Some even say He is still alive, is this true? If it is, can we meet Him? Show me Jesus, the Christ!
For this post, I am going to tell you about my story. The scriptures say that if we ask, seek and knock, we will find that which we desire to know. Mathew 7:7-8, “Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.” From the time I was a child, I think I have done this over and over again. It seems like I have always asked the question, “Why?”
When I was young I used to live in the country and during the summers I would go for walks in the pastures around our home. I would observe the land, water, and the animals. It seems like I always felt the presence of the Lord. I just knew He was there. My family was torn several times as I grew up. My dad left us when I was only three. My mother would marry two more times before I would graduate high school. Everything seemed broken all the time. Relationships were hard to develop with anything lasting more than just a short while.
I heard about Jesus as early as I can remember. My grandmother told me stories about him and prayed for my brother and I. We also went to a Lutheran Sunday school every Sunday morning although my parents would rarely attend Church. I was born into the Catholic church but my mother was kicked out when she divorced my father for threatening her with a gun. I have also been a part of several other denominations and some non-denominations in my life.
I remember talking to Jesus even when I didn’t understand much at all. The most I do remember is that when I knew He was near, I felt at peace and was comforted no matter what I was going through. I have been through a lot of trauma and broken relationships in my life so I can speak from experience about these kinds of things. I also can share about the Lord’s love, His caring and His healing touch. I am absolutely convinced that there is nothing He cannot do or heal. The only thing that stops Him from operating in our lives is our choice. He gave us the freedom to choose and He honors that.
For the sake of the length of this post I am only going to touch on this subject, but I’ll continue it later in another post. The main thing I would like each reader to get is this. You can tell the difference between someone who is walking with the Lord and someone who is just religious! You need to remember this. It can save you much heartache. Not everyone who says they are a Christian are. Neither are all that preach and minister. Secondly, we can only point the way to the Lord, but we can not make you follow Him. This is a choice you must make each and every day. This is a relationship you must develop. If you don’t, it simply won’t happen.
The Lord is a gentleman. He will not force Himself on you. It is more like a love affair between a man and a woman. The first step in the relationship is to meet. If they feel something between themselves it has the possibility to progress further. As they spend time with each other they share their hearts and their dreams. If things are still going in the right direction, there is the possibility of marriage. This is the way it is with the Lord. He is the bridegroom and we are the bride. Please note that this does not have any thing to do with gender. The soul and spirit are genderless. It is only the physical body that has a gender.
The way we learn about the Lord is through His Word, the Bible. We can also learn about Him through others who are walking with Him. We mainly learn about Him by walking with Him, praying and listening for His voice, feeling His heart, walking in His Spirit, basking in His peace and love, and living in His mighty anointing. This, my friend, is living. It is a journey and it will last for an eternity.
We start out with baby steps. It is like a child learning to walk. If the child falls the parent picks him back up and helps him to go again. If the child gets hurt the parent is there to love and protect. This is the way it is with the Lord. He is there for us. The more we let go of who we think we are, the more He can show us who we really are and can be. He will show us our destiny and purpose and if we follow Him and go His way, He will bring it about. It is really simple.
There are two basic differences between walking with the Lord and walking with the world. With the Lord everything is about Him and His love for us. He created us and He wants us to fulfill the desires He placed within our hearts so that we might live an abundant fruitful life. With the world everything is about power, greed, lust, and destruction. It is about stepping on others to get what you want. It doesn’t care about us at all. It only cares about what we can do for it.
People tell me that they can live their own lives the way the want. Look at the world and see if this is true. Jesus said you can only serve one of two masters, the Lord or mammon (the world). When a person truly finds the Lord and experiences His love, his eyes are opened and he sees everything clearly. How can anyone make an intelligent decision if they never search it out for themselves? What about you? Will you choose to make an intelligent decision or will you trust someone else to influence your choice through their own judgments, hurts and bitterness? This is not about the moment. It is about eternity.
May the Lord guide, protect and show you Himself. May you experience everything He wants to show you. May you find the love you so desperately desire. May you find His peace and fulfill the desires of your heart. I so want for you to be fulfilled, vibrant, healed and secure in Him. May you find the courage to lose yourself in His love to find out who you were really meant to be. May He become as real to you as He is to me. May you have a wonderful life. Ask, seek and knock. Ask Him to show you what you want to know. Seek Him to find out who He is. Knock on the door of His heart and open yours up to Him.
Here is a website that has online bibles in many translations. It is free. Also, if you are able, buy a Bible and start reading where you think He wants you to start. Let it be an adventure. I have written many posts about different topics, feel free to check them out. We are also in the process of doing new things with this website and our sister site. Keep checking back to the Home page for updates or to our sister site, BeneficialZone. If you know of others who are following Him, spend time with them and listen. If you know of someone who could benefit from this site, please send them this link, DestinyPathOfLife.com. The Lord is for you. You matter and He cares. We do too. Show Me Jesus!
