Creating New Jobs
January 11th, 2009 at 11:56 am (Joseph's Story, Miracles)
Are you out of work? Is your business going under? Are you at a place of desperation and don’t know what to do for work? How are you going to make it through? Following are some of the things I’ve been through when in these similar situations. I hope they help encourage you and give you hope. Creating New Jobs!
When things change in our lives, it doesn’t always mean that we have done something bad or have missed the mark. A lot of these changes come about because Father has a better plan for us. Sometimes it is in our nature to assume the worst so we panic or in desperation we try to do too much. The best thing to do in a situation like this is find a quiet place and get your peace back. Ask Father what His plan is for your life. If you don’t know Him, now is the best time to start. Read some of my other blogs on this subject, just ask Him, and read in the Bible. If you don’t know where to start, ask Him to help and then just open it up anywhere. Then just keep doing it until you find a passage or words that seem to just jump out at you and your situation.
Ask Him for His peace. Ask Him to guide and lead you. We have traveled all over the United States not knowing where we were going nor what we were going to do when we got there. Sometimes, we had a destination to start with, a general direction, but by the end of the journey it was more than what we could have imagined. This is the way it is in a lot of things we do. We get a general direction from the Lord and then we step out. Sometimes it is just to pass on a smile and a word of encouragement to someone. Sometimes it is meeting a new friend for life. Sometimes it is a whole new business venture or job. Sometimes it is developing new relationships and this begins the process of starting a new global business. The Lord created jobs for me that were not even there before. Sometimes I would just volunteer to do certain things and it led into other things. Just listen, be at peace and obey.
I never planned to be where I am today. I didn’t plan on going back to school to learn graphics, web design and development. The Lord knew it all from the beginning and I just started taking one day at a time and doing what I knew to do in that day. It was scary, because it went against everything I was taught about planning and business. If you want the Lord to exalt you and put you in a good place, then you need to also humble yourself before Him and follow His lead. He knows what the future holds and He alone knows how to get us there. The governments and leaders of this world and business don’t have a clue. If you don’t believe me, just take a look at the mess we are in. They just keep going trying to put a patch here and there and hoping that somehow it will all start to work again. How about just getting rid of what is not working and doing something new? Here’s why! FEAR! They really don’t know and they don’t want to be the ones who fail.
I can stand before the Lord and everyone else and quote my failures. I can say how not to do certain things, it isn’t that big of a deal. Our problem in this world is hero worship. We are the first to put them on a pedestal and the first to crush them under our feet at the tiniest mistake. They aren’t perfect and neither are we. Mistakes and failures are a much needed part of our lives. There is only One Who is perfect and if we will trust Him, He will lead us down the path He has for us.
Thomas Edison found over 10,000 ways not to build the light bulb. The thing he focused on though was the one way it worked. Was it worth it? I think so, what about you? Have you failed at something that many times? If not, then keep on trying. Keep on going! Keep on walking! It really isn’t that bad. Even if you lose everything, it isn’t really that bad. It is our emotions that play tricks on us. I once heard it said that you could take away the money from most millionaires and within a few short years they would have it all back. They found out how to make it work. What we need to hear is how Father wants us to walk.
Years ago I was separated from my second wife, out of work and didn’t know what to do. I felt the Lord tell me to go to a certain city. Keep in mind that I grew up in the country and this was a huge step. I stayed with my uncle for a while and then things began to happen. I found a Christian fellowship and relationships started to develop. It was out of some of these relationships that I am where I am now, in a much better place. It took some time. It took a whole lot of healing. It took unlearning some of what I had been taught so that I could start rebuilding my life on the truth. It also helped me to know more of who the Lord is and how much He really loves each of us.
Now I am building kingdom businesses. Now I am able to help others through this blog and other avenues. The Lord is bringing His people together in these tumultuous times. He is changing the seasons again. The world has tried to do things their way. They are seeking the miracles from a religion called humanism and every other ism there is. Just like Elijah in the days of old, there is a company of people who have come into the Kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ for such a time as this. Look at the story of Esther. Lift up your head and see His glory. Feel His presence overwhelm you as He wraps you in His mighty presence. Look at His creation and behold His glory. Give Him praise and your worship because today is a brand new day in your life. Everything can change if you will just make the choice to follow Him. It doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks, what matters are the choices you make.
We have only just begun. Tomorrow is a new day and it is full of adventure. Let us shake off the things that keep us down. Let us make some choices that will change our emotions and put us in a better place. Let us praise the Lord for Who He is. How great and magnificent is our God. How wonderful are His ways. Our emotions are like the mirages in the desert. They are not real. We can feel things going wrong all around us, but that doesn’t make it true. Many businesses have built many illusions. At the beginning of 2008 it looked like everything was going great and then the wind blew and the reality was exposed. Who are you going to trust? How will you live from this day on? As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
