Let Go, Let God

Do you ever find yourself holding on to something too hard? Do you feel that if you let go, everything will fall apart? Are you stressing out over things that don’t seem to be working or maybe just making sure that everything works the way you have planned and prayed? Do you have a child that seems to be straying away from the way you raised them? Maybe it’s time to LET GO AND LET GOD! Freefall!

My in-laws prayed for their daughter for years. She had gone through so much trauma for years and then she was given up on by the doctors and put in a home until she died. Her parents were at their wits end. What could they do? This was their baby girl. They had done everything they knew to do and nothing worked. Finally, one day, her mother looked up to heaven and told the Lord, “Lord, I put her in your hands. I’ve done everything I know to do.” This was the day the miracle took place. This was the day the Lord reached down from heaven and began a miraculous healing process. She is alive and well today. We have started to write a book about her story so that others can benefit from it. The title is going to be, “Sentenced to Death, Destined for Life, The Janiece Turner Story.”

I think that far too many times we ask the Lord for a miracle and then we think that we must do something to get it. Maybe we don’t feel worthy or we buy into the old saying, “God helps those who help themselves.” Show me where this is in the scriptures. Show me where the paralytics that Jesus healed helped themselves. They couldn’t even move. Some of them simply asked. Others were brought to Him and He healed them all.

We are creatures of habit. Sometimes we feel that we must help the Lord. However, we can get in the way and actually block the miracle from happening. Sometimes we simply talk too much. Maybe we think we need to convince others with our fine sounding stories or scripture quotes. Many times these are the things that drive the other person away. It is pure love that attracts.

I would like to share a truth that Jesus used without saying a word about it. I think He actually created the word ‘vaccuum’ even though He never used it. He would preach and teach the people as they gathered, but He would never force anything on them. In fact, sometimes He would do the opposite. He would tell them something and then start walking away. This is contrary to most of the ways our churches operate today. Some of them almost force people to come up to the front of the building to receive prayer. Not Jesus! He had people running to Him. He saw their need and desperation and had compassion on them and then healed them.

The Lord is with us no matter where we are. If we need a miracle, all we need to do is ask for it and LET Him do it. We need to be okay with however He chooses to bring it about. If we look at all of the miracles that took place in the Bible, I have yet to find two, outside of some healings, that happened the same way. Some miracles took an act of faith or obedience to the words of the prophets, but most were different. It is interesting to note, they all involved humility. If we humble ourselves under God’s mighty hand, He will exalt us in due season. Daniel 10:12 “Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.”

Our pride can stand in the way of miracles. The Lord wants to heal us. Too many times I’ve seen people walk away from Him because they didn’t want to go where He was leading them. It went against their intellect. Too many times they wouldn’t acknowledge that maybe a spiritual entity was part of the problem. They were afraid. The Lord dealt with spiritual darkness almost as much as He healed people. In fact, He first had to deliver some of them from an evil spirit before the person could be healed, in some instances. It is when we choose to ignore some of the scriptures that we get into trouble or don’t receive from the Lord. He knows what we need. He knows how to protect us. He wants us to experience His love, but most, if not all of the time, we might be the only reason we don’t.

We must get to a point of getting out of the way. It wasn’t until I was humbled that I found a better way. The world’s system does not work. If you think it does, look at it right now. They don’t have the answers and yet they want us to trust them. I think not. There is only One I do trust. Jesus knew the hearts of those around Him and He trusted exclusively in His Father. We shouldn’t give anyone what belongs to the Lord. The Lord is the only One we should lift up and worship, at best, man will always fail us, but the Lord never will. We are weak. Sometimes we just don’t feel up to it. Sometimes our emotions lie to us and we give in. Sometimes we betray a trust. Sometimes we strike out in pain. We aren’t perfect enough to keep it all together. I am glad I’m not, but I know Who is. Why don’t you let go and let Him show you a new way?
