I Am

I Am! What an amazing name. His Name means I Am now, in the present tense. I Am with you in your present situation. I will help you now. You are not alone for I am with you. If you can grasp this, it is one of the most powerful weapons you can ever use against the enemy, especially in times of loneliness, depression, despair, grief, etc.
John 18:4-6 - Jesus, knowing all that was going to happen to him, went out and asked them, “Who is it you want?”
“Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied.
“I am he,” Jesus said. (And Judas the traitor was standing there with them.) When Jesus said, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground.
John 8:58 - “I tell you the truth,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born, I am!”
Revelation 1-8 - “I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
Deuteronomy 31:6 - “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the LORD your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
Last night, as I laid down in bed, many negative thoughts started swarming around me. I had a wonderful and overcoming day and now the attack had come. Almost immediately, I heard Jesus speak His name, I Am. One of the thoughts went away like it had been shot with an arrow. Another one came and the name I Am was spoken again. Another thought was defeated. Of course, it didn’t take me long at all to catch on and I began meditating on His Name over and over again. It was like a shooting gallery. Each thought would come at me and with each mention of I Am it was destroyed. It didn’t take long at all and I was fast asleep.
After I had awakened this morning, I began to meditate on what had happened. We have been going through a time where many decisions need to be made. Most of these are major decisions and the timing is critical. It is very easy to look ahead and try to determine in my own mind what I need to do. In a way, I feel like Saul might have felt in 1 Samuel 13, as he waited for Samuel to come with the Word of the Lord. There is pressure all around to make the decision and yet there is a hesitancy in my spirit. What should I do Lord? I need to know what to do. You alone know the future, what is the best choice for us? Then I hear the name, I Am. “I Am here with you right now. I’ll give you what you need at the moment you need it.”
The thoughts of past mistakes loom around me. I don’t want to fail, again. I don’t dare listen to them, they will only bring me down. I can’t see ahead of me, so patiently I must wait. I must trust. He has never left me or forsaken me. He has brought us through each and every time. We have seen His miracles. We experience His presence. Encouragement comes as I meditate on who He is. I Am! We will wait until He speaks. Peace, what a place to be. Have we heard yet? No, but as Habakkuk had to wait in Hab. 2:1, so will I. What will He say?
My friend, you are not alone today. The economy is shaking. Things people have trusted in for so long are shaking. What is the truth? What is going to happen next? How will we do this? How will we do that? What is tomorrow going to be like? Will we be able to pay our bills? Who do you trust? Who do you listen to for advice? There is a way through victoriously, no matter what happens to others. Father knows you by name and He wants the best for you. You are not alone, in fact, you have the best company in the world. Take the time to hear what He has to say. I Am with you always!
Joseph
