Who do you trust?

Interesting question! I don’t think it has ever been more used than in this generation. Just who can you trust? In an age where everyone is taught to look out for themselves, how do you find some one who is interested in you with no ulterior motives?

There is only one person that I know that I can trust in every situation. His name is the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the only One I can trust with my life. There are some others that are close to me who I can trust in varying degrees. Jesus knew what was in the heart of man when He walked the earth. He even spoke about it.

There is one big problem with putting our total trust in someone else and that is the fact that they are human and fallible. It doesn’t matter how well meaning they are or how much they love you, they are going to let you down. This is a truth that we need to not only accept, but expect it. My wife and I made an agreement with each other when we got married, that if one of us decided to go another way, the other one was free to continue on with the Lord’s purpose and direction for their life. Of course, we also expect that since He put us together, He will help us through all situations and circumstances.

Another problem, we have as humans, is that we place a lot of expectations on those we love and if they don’t do what we expect them to do, we get upset. Whose fault is this? Who do we usually blame? Right!

What about going to the church to find someone you can trust? Even though this is a great starting place, not everyone there even loves the Lord. The church is like a big hospital and not every one there is well. Also, the enemy sends in his people to stir things up and hurt people. The more whole a person is, the more safe they are to be around. What are the requirements for a person being whole, you ask? This is someone who has given their life to the Lord, for Him to do with and use them as He desires. They have given Him their fears, hurts, wounds, short-comings, hatred, etc. and He has healed all these areas. The more we give over to Him and the more we get healed, the more we are able to love and understand those around us. The more we rely on Him, the less we rely on ourselves and the less likely we will have ulterior motives.

Where do you find these people? Start by becoming one. Choose to give your life to the Lord. Accept His plan and purpose for your life. When He shows you things in your life that are not right, turn away from them and ask him to heal you. Ask Him to forgive you for all your sins. Forgive others for the things they’ve done against you or someone you love. As you begin to walk with Him, He will show you the things you need to know. You will be able to see those you can trust, those you need to stay away from and those you need to guard yourself when you are around them. Walk with Him as a small child walks with a loving father. Always believing, always trusting, always safe and secure, and always knowing they are loved. It’s simple. I didn’t say it was easy. You have to lay down your life to find it. Only the One, who created you, knows what your true destiny and purpose are. Why would you trust someone else to reveal it to you?

Above all, be the person you were created to be and then help others to get there also. You will be the most fulfilled person on the earth and then all those other things that seemed to bother you before will only be a distant memory.

Have a great and wonderful day. May the Lord go before and prepare your path. May you find someone to bless today, even if it’s only a smile. May the blessings of the Lord overtake you and lift you up. May you walk in His mercy, peace, love and grace always.

Joseph
